Mikumi National Park

Description: Mikumi, transected by the surfaced road from Dar es Salaam to Iringa is the most accessible park in the Southern circuit. The centerpiece of Mikumi is the abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplains that draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Lions survey their grassy kingdom – and the zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo herds that migrate across it – from the flattened tops of termite mounds. It is perhaps the most reliable place in Tanzania to view the eland, the world’s largest antelope.

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Access 2 Tanzania. Out trip included 3 different safaris in Africa and Access 2 Tanzania was the absolute best of them. It far surpassed the others in organization, in animals, in lodgings, and in people. We were totally thrilled with EVERYTHING. From Karen’s listening to what we wanted and the helping us plan to Alex’s being more than a wonderful guide and taking care of us with kindness Access 2 Tanzania was /is THE BEST.”
