Mikumi National Park

Description: Mikumi, transected by the surfaced road from Dar es Salaam to Iringa is the most accessible park in the Southern circuit. The centerpiece of Mikumi is the abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplains that draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Lions survey their grassy kingdom – and the zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo herds that migrate across it – from the flattened tops of termite mounds. It is perhaps the most reliable place in Tanzania to view the eland, the world’s largest antelope.

“I traveled as part of the donor trip. This was my second trip with Access. Myself and my daughter were well informed in the planning stages in regards to packing, medical info, and the itinerary. The logistics in country worked quite smoothly. It was extra special to meet Brian Singer. His vision and passion for the people of Tanzania has an amazing mix of idealism and practicality.
I appreciated to mix of accommodations; lodges, tented camps, and a village home. A2T did an excellent job and I would recommend them to anyone traveling to Tanzania and/or Rwanda.”
