Joachim was a wonderful guide. He is kind, informative, has a great sense of humor, a very good eye for spotting wildlife, and helped us make great decisions about what to see, where to go and ensuring we saw as many different species as possible. He and Danny worked so well together and took amazing care of both of our families and especially our special needs son.

Joachim was excellent. He stayed engaged at all times (not on his phone while we took photos, etc.) Knew (or convincingly made up!) many details about the plants and animals we saw. As well, he offered lots of cultural insights.

We are so lucky that we had Joachim as our guide! During our time together there are so many things that we learned from him that made a huge difference in the quality of our journey to Tanzania. He was always kind and considerate about any need that we had and he emphasized that our safety was always first. As a driver, he is careful, courteous and very skilled with driving on difficult roads as smoothly as possible (plus driving through the insanity of crowded downtown Arusha roads). In addition, he knows all the park roads and how to get around in a maze of unsigned roads. As a driver, he knows how to position the vehicle for optimum photography. As a guide, he was extremely helpful suggesting places to see in Arusha, particularly the Heritage Center and Art Museum. Even more exciting for us are the special skills Joachim has as a spotter for birds, and all the other mammals! We are thrilled that he spotted and identified over 77 different species of birds on our trip! Joachim was a fantastic guide. This was my third safari (first was in Uganda in 2013, second in Kenya 2015, with other companies). My prior two safaris had fine guides, we saw all the animals we wanted to see, but it was more a punch the clock attitude, not much chatting, and no “extra” info. Joachim, in contrast, was very friendly, always present with us — answering questions, adding information about animals we were seeing or the parks and their history, and also giving us quiet time when we were tired. He never took personal calls in front of us or otherwise seemed distracted. Joachim was also very knowledgeable about the parks, animals, and Tanzanian history. We enjoyed learning from him. He was attentive to when we wanted to spend more time observing animals and when we were ready to move on. He was also a very safe and good driver! Most of all, Joachim was friendly, genuine, and really looked out for us. For instance, when we flew out of Manyara, Joachim waited at the airport until our flight departed.

My family of 5 ( 3 daughters – age 19, 22, 23) just finished a 10 day Tanzania trip and couldn’t have been more impressed with Access2Tanzania. Would highly highly recommend!!! We started working with Karen in the summer of 2018 for a December 2020 safari. Of course COVID got in the way… but they were consummate professionals throughout that time and then when we re-engaged with them over the last 18 months for this trip. She couldn’t have been more knowledgeable and helpful curating our trip in regards to accommodations (1 hotel and 3 camps), airport, flights, visas, packing, safaris, village visits, tipping etc. They’ve been doing this for quite some time and it shows. Joachim was extremely professional and knowledgeable. I asked A LOT of questions about Tanzania government/culture as well as the animals. He answered everything in detail. He is also a very safe driver and has a great rapore with all of the other hospitality workers that we came into contact with.

We had an amazing experience, and we attribute the joy, success, and adventure of the trip to our guide (and now friend for life), Joachim. From picking us up at the airport, Joachim was extremely attentive to our needs, telling us “your wish is my command”, and he went above and beyond to deliver on that message. He was consistently checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. He has great communication skills – speaking very clear English, but more importantly, doing an excellent job communicating the agenda, park and animal facts, etc. Joachim would make sure we understood our options and explained the different choices we had throughout our days, but we loved that we ultimately were always in control of our schedule and activities with his sage advice.
