The experience of a lifetime!
From the beginning, we felt very comfortable with Alex. He has a very calm and welcoming personality. He is very knowledgeable and entertaining. We liked starting our safari days early, with the beautiful morning light. This led to long days in the vehicle, but we never tired of Alex. He kept a pace that was perfect for us, and we had the general feeling that we were just experiencing nature and what was going on with the wildlife (although I’m sure Alex did his best to position us in areas where he expected some activity!) We saw truly amazing animals, activities, vistas – more than we ever expected. We enjoyed our conversations with Alex about life in Tanzania, culture, religion, education, etc. His knowledge of the animals we encountered, even birds, is outstanding. Since you see some of the same types of animals multiple times, we had some interesting conversations on their behavior and motivations. He catered to my desire to log all of the species we encountered, which included 35 animal species, 78 bird species (unbelievable that he knew all of these, or was able to quickly identify with his book), and 3 reptiles! Alex clearly has many friends among the other guides and staff in the lodges/camps. He is funny and fun to be around. We feel very lucky to know him and have had him as our guide.
“Very pleased. A2T clearly respects Africa (Tanzania) #1, and knows how to help first time travelers to Africa prepare to travel, respect local customs and enjoy a lifetime experience. I respect that your drivers are all A2T employees not contract guides. We asked them about working for A2T and they were enthusiastic about achieving a very good job with a good company. They were responsive to our group, personable in every way, and let us know through occasional humor that they enjoyed us and their work.
They really became the heart of the safari experience with their incredible skills and knowledge and ability to know where they were in what seemed to me like the middle of nowhere. I am one of those travelers that likes to know where I am on the planet, and I was totally in awe of driving around Nngorongor and the Serengeti without a sense of direction. I loved it.”
