Ray was very knowledgable and informative. He knew the areas we travelled very well and appeared to know many of the other guides while on the safari. They often tipped each other off when seeing sights and animals of particular interest. He was always prompt and courteous.

Raymond was phenomenal! He insisted on picking us up, even though our flight arrived at 1:30AM and his enthusiasm was infectious from the minute we met him. He made our safari experience a trip of a lifetime with his in-depth knowledge, wonderful stories, and friendship. We love history and politics and Ray was a perfect match for us. His knowledge of Tanzania’s rich history as well as its current sociopolitical landscape, made for great discussions every day! In addition, his driving was fantastic and we always felt safe with him at the helm. He always went above and beyond to make the trip memorable in little ways. For example, when I had mentioned in passing that I would love to try Chipsi mayai, he secretly went to the chef at a camp we were staying at and asked them to make it for me one evening. We would highly recommend Ray to others travelers using Access to Tanzania!

Ray was exceptional in service and knowledge as well as being an all round good sport. He was aways on time, (even when we were not :-)). He was an excellent driver and took the time to think through various obstacles that came up and then make a decision based on his experience and it seemed to work out without any problems. He could be a little reserved at times but he has a 9 year old daughter and a 3 year old son, as well as his wife is in nursing school and away from their kids, so I appreciate that he misses his kids. It made our experience and connection more real and not just about seeing wildlife. Overall, I was pleased with his performance as a guide.

I cannot praise Ray enough… truly. As a curious sole, he answered every one of my crazy questions about the country, animals and nature with confidence and patience. From the moment we met him we could tell he the perfect fit. He was incredibly friendly (not just with us but it was very obvious he was a valued guide in the industry) and professional while making us feel welcome and respected. He was funny, knowledgable, kind, generous and took great pride in his country and his job. I also think it’s important to mention his incredible driving skills. He made rugged terrain feel like a smooth ride by his sheer talent behind the wheel. Not only that but his familiarity with the trails and road was just superb. Over the course of the trip, we began to feel like Ray was more than a guide, he was a travel companion of ours that we valued as an integral and irreplaceable part of our trip.

Raymond is a consummate professional. He did everything we asked and more. He works very hard. And he has a great personality. He’s the best!

Ray was an excellent guide. He was friendly and fun from he very beginning and by the end we felt like he was part of the family. We miss him! Aside from his personality he knew so much about the animals and the country it was mind boggling. We learned so much about not only the main animals but any animal or bird we saw. We even talked about termites for 45 minutes. We never knew how amazing they are. We saw every animal we could have hoped for and he was so good about letting us really take our time observing anything we wanted to. We can’t say enough about him!!
